2 WEEKS from my hydro addiction !!.....My 1st Week Experience.....and Please be careful with TRAMADOL !!!

14 DAYS.. and the days are just flying bye!  I thank you all in here so much for your help, love, support and yes even laughs !! ..... (-:    Praise God !!!

It is so worth going through the 1st week of cold turkey withdrawls! Once its over...it gets so much better, and life just keeps getting better and better with each and every given day!  Thanks be to God!

For those who might wonder about a general idea of cold turkey withdrawls, durning the 1st WEEK from opiates...here is a somewhat of what I MYSLEF went through...and maybe can help give you a little bit.

Here is what you can get an idea of...this is real rough, but anyone can do it !!... Having the right info, heart and mindset...before you start is going to really make a huge difference...

To be honest with you, you will need to take 3-4 days off work or school. It is just to hard to detox and to get out and function life normally. Day 3-4 were the worst for me..you will not have very much energy, fatigued, anxiety, flu like symptoms, sleep was at miniumal, 2 to 3 hours.. here and there, and I just kind of crawled around and layed in bed most of this duration.

So, here is what will help you alot:

- On the bottom right coner of this forum, click on "The Thomas Recipe"
- Get some Immodium AD (for Diarrhea).... A MUST FOR MOST
- For sleep and pain relieve I take IBU
- Your going to have a runny nose, watering eyes, sneezing, flu like symptoms etc...it will drive you nuts....You can help relieve that with  a antihistamine like benadryl, walfanite, claraton etc... alergy-sinus cold medicine...whatever works the best for you...
- I had a big loss of apetite, that started to return aroun day 7.... and I was also be colder than usual, along with sweets, and night sweets.

This is kind of how my first 7 days went: Sleep was sparatic and all over the place until day around day 7-8..

Day 1 Was not as bad, as I you might think...but it gave me an idea of what to expect.
Day 2 Was about 2 times worse, and I felt real feel sluggish, and my nind and body was tripping out - lol
Day 3 All Hell breaks loose, and I was counting minutes until day 4.
Day 4 Is still hard but it did seem to finally to ease up a little
Day 5 It seemed to let up, I started to see the light from there on in....
Day 6 Was mostly on emontional day for me...I cried for 1/2 a day...yes a 39 year old man...its part of the process.
Day 7 It just started to go nothing but uphill from there, and I was pretty much finished with my physical withdrawals...the rest from here, were the mental the comes and goes.

( STAY ON THE FORUM DURING ALL THIS )....MedHelp is God Sent in my opinion..and so helpful with so much support here...

I have been through this countless times....today (day 14) is actually the longest I have ever gone since I started hydros over 2 years ago...and I have never felt sooooo good.

It does get better. Right now, I am happy, eating, sleeping, driving etc... it was so worth going through 5 days of hell...

What really made the difference this time, was my heart was ready and having a true motivation before I even started..

Keep you heart and attitude, just right where it is (was) right before you started Day 1....and always remember this when the rough times come in and out....when your suffering, or have night sweets, shaky...whatever...just keep remembering How Much Power that drug controlled your life, for your body to go through this...just keep remembering what got you here, and most important...why you are doing what you are doing.

Dont forget to ask for God's help either...He has helped me and other's tremendously!
If you need anything...shoot me a PM anytime...

ABOUT TRAMADOL:  Please read the posts on tramadol in the health pages...before you think about replacing it for a hydro addiction...it does NOT work for a subsitution !!!

You can read the new post by "avisg" about it,...and its also in the Health Pages, ALSO YOU CAN:

Send a PM to "Avisg"  or  "GoingToMakeIt"  ...they have some great advise and truth about Tramadol / Ultram

I myself have taken it even in the past...did nothing for me, but dont be decieved to its very misleading claims...there are many in here struggling to get off tramadol just as bad as opiates...and from what I have read, and heard...the withdrawls are worse....SO PLEASE READ UP ON IT BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKEN IT....JUST MY FRIENDLY ADVISE...

God Bless You All, and thank you all agains so much !!
Love,
Todd

I hope everyone is having a great weekend !!

What more is there left to say that I haven't told you and anyone else that would listen to me....  You're the best!  While fighting your own battle, each day you took (a lot of) time to help me through those difficult days ~ WOW the length of some of those threads!  I will always keep them, as they will remind me of the journey that started 8 days ago...and may also be used as a very knowledgeable reference of how hard the first 4 days are...looking back at that who would ever take another pill and start the process to recovery over????? :)

Todd, you know this forum needs your continued support, knowledge and character..oh and your God Bless You's!!!  So, with that said, continue to do what you do each and every day...inspire someone new to the forum and lead them to the life they deserve and want back.

Love,
Amy

Todd,

you are doing so great and you really do keep getting better. That part about the days and what to expect is pretty common and I'm sure people who are new would really benefit from that.

I'm glad I'm getting the info on Tramadol and most likely won't take it regardless of what my dr. says.
