i'm so sad

I am in the process of tapering off methadone but i am so sad all i want to do is sit inside the house and do nothing but eat .I am serieously considering getting on an antidepresant but dont want to live the rest of my life on pills . how many of you have tried antidepresants while weaning off pills? any imput would be great....

Annti-depressents do help alot of people...I have never liked them but did get on one before detox...got off afterwards...important to find the one that works for you as there are so many....good luck

I take lexapro, and i was only taking half of the dosage i was suppose to, but when i was detoxing i took the full dosage...I have to say for me it helped so much...
It is worth a try......

cymbalta has helped my depression, it also is somewhat helpful with pain they say also, i dont understand that part yet...

My doctor does not know I am tapering but I asked for an anti-depressant and is has helped.  I am on Cymbalta 60mg and it has made a difference in how I feel.  Not al the time, but a huge improvement over how I was before.  It only took like 2-3 weeks for me to notice a difference in my mood, but the thing I loved is because it increases noripepherene (sp?) it helped my withdrawal symptoms while I was tapering down from 40 to where I am now stuck at 12-14.  Hope this helps.

i havent taken anti-dep.  but ithink everyone tapering or quitting for that matter goes through exactly what you are feeling.  our bodies are changing.  you are not supplying the body with as many chemicals anymore.  it dont like it.  it does get better!  and thats the good news lol

didnt do anti's while weaning, but took em after i was shot the second time. I dint like em at all, threw em away. but thats just me, i really dont like to take pills. i dont know about u, but when im down i come on here, people here have a way of cheering you up!! ne way just wanted to say best of luck in wuteva you decide....
