Actually you can have seizures from coming off pain meds. I did! I hadn't taken anything for 2 days and started to get the "normal" symptoms. I had no choice but to wait it out until my next refill at the doctor which was in a couple days. I happen to be at an engagement party with a few friends and without warning I blacked out and fell to the floor. I Don't remember a thing! When I finally woke up approximately 5 minutes later the people who were around me explained to me that I had fallen to the floor and began convulsing. My entire body shook and my eyes rolled back in my head and I was trying to swallow my tongue. They continued calling my name trying to wake me up and I began coming back to them but again blacked out and had a second seizure. All this due to me running short on percocet. Crazy scary!!! That's why I'm trying to get disciplined enough to slowly wean myself off completely. I can't stand depending so much on a little white pill.
everything thing garbageaddict say's pertains..except if it's 20 to 30 daily you should taper for a week if your able .
I'm not sure what kind of medication you're taking either or what mgs but many do say there's a risk of seizures if you quit benzos ct. I was always afraid of that and wouldn't for a long time because of it and I tried the taper but was never disciplined enough to do it. I quit xanax after 16 plus years ct 30 days ago and I didn't have a seizure. Again I don't know what you're taking, how much and for how long but like the previous person stated anything is able to be done if you are committed to doing it. Good luck to you!
I read this as taking 20-30 pills a day, not mgs????
So what type of medication are you taking exactly? If you are talking pain medications, you won't have a stroke or seizure from coming off them. It will feel like having a really bad flu for about a week, but it is very doable. To be honest, 20 to 30 mg a day is a smaller jump that most take going cold turkey, so there really isn't a reason to taper. If you want this bad enough, anything is possible. You just really need to want this. So many people cave after they start feeling any withdrawal. There are plenty of vitamins, over the counter remedies, and supplements that can be taken to combat just about any symptom. So, when you are ready, just post and we will all be there for you through the process.
