Addicted to Lortab 10 for 2 years need off help

I have been addicted to lortab 10 for a good 2 years now.  I need to be free of this!!  Should I quit cold turkey?  I have a very aggravating husband who will not let me rest or stay in bed, and a 7 year old daughter that doesn't understand why mommy is sick.  I cant go to inpatient treatment because I will loose my job.

You will still have withdrawl symptoms no matter which way you go. They are miserable trust me. I had a 25 to 30 vics a day habit along with soma. I am lucky to be alive. I went cold turkey the withdrawls lasted about a week, however I only made it 2 mo. and began talking lower does to get me through the days and nights. I am so craving them all the time. I am preoccupied with cravings I can verily stand it. I think taper would be a little easier. Every way I tried to stay cleaned has been hopeless. I attend NA and talk to a therapist, I have places to go to blow it off with my thoughts and ideas, instead of blowing all off on my husband. He is supporting me, but is pretty fed up with my drug abuse. Good luck! I will pray for you.

Hi,

Unfortunately you are going to suffer withdrawal symptoms either way- tapering or going cold turkey.

Since you don't have enough pills left to taper with, I would ditch them altogether and go cold turkey. It'll get this over with quicker for you.

Before you do that, look at the health pages (link at top right of your screen), particularly the Thomas recipe and the amino acid protocol. You'll need to buy some items, like RLS remedy and Imodium from for pharmacy, and some from any good health food store.

If you decide that is right for you, lay in the supplies and come back here for more information, help, advice and support.

The fear is much worse than the reality!

Take care

Hi,

It would be useful to know how much Lortab you take daily

Also, is it prescribed, bought online or on the street.

You will get a massive amount of help, advice and support from the list, but it would be useful for us to know a little bit more about you and your habit.

Take care

Lortab was my drug of choice for 7 years,it controlled my life.I kept making excuses for not going to get help.I wasn't successful trying to taper off. Finally sought help, was put on sub.Got off of that after a little over a month. My big fear was the withdrawal symptoms but it didn't last that long and thank God I'm free of those pills.Good luck and God bless.

I was also taking Lortab 10/500 At the rate of 10 to 12 a day  36 days later I am down to 1 pill a day that I cut into Quarters. Taper slow and stick to it no cheating. I suffered some withdrawl along the way but not the horror stories that you hear about. we can not give you a tapper plan here but your doctor could help with that. I would give up on the one pill I'm still taking Im sure more mental than physical. But since I started tappering my life has been turned upside down. Have to move outta state for wifes new job . So sell a house buy a house movers and lawyers and bankers and real estate agents and so on. So I am holding on to that last pill till we get all this settled. So If I can do it under these conditions I hope you can too. I come to this forum everyday for insperation and advice. I started three years ago with a back injury and the rest is history. You just have to want it and if you can get some outside help it will be a great help to you also. You will find a lot of help here. I wish you the best of luck getting your life back

I was taking hydrocodone 10/650 for about 6 years and I finally decided enough was enough. I did the taper method because it worked best for me. The withdrawls weren't bad when I finally stoped taking them but I did have some withdrawls while I was tapering. Can you  take a few days off of work to quit? Good luck to you!
