Appetite.

Does anyone know when you are w/d from methadone how long it takes to before you feel like eating again. Have to force myself to eat and living on ensure and multivitamins for nutrition-or is this also an indivdual sympton for withdrawal-any comments would be great, 4 weeks now and still only have a few tolerable days a week, cold turkey *****, but thanks for all the comments on this site has given me determination and strength. It does take a long time. maybe start with a smoothy in the morning. Put a container of favorite yugurt in blender...add banannas, berries, applesaouce, whatever you like. Maybe a good time foe some protein powders also - but wait awhile before you add those if ensure isnt liked that much. Ask at health food stores ... got liquid chloropkyl and  liked everything about it. Good nuitrition.

Ans sadinmichigan is really correct - many times light things are easier to eat than other things. I liked omelets at  anytime of the day......let those taaste buds be the giude, but use vitamins and nutrients for certain  ......eagle

Hey girl!! Awesome..4 weeks!! I also had to force myself to eat. But you will feel so much better. I could only eat very bland things like eggs and occasionaly some rice and chicken . I bought a bunch of those lean cuisines and made myself eat. They are the perfect amount of food .I had zero energy to stand in the kitchen and actually cook. The microwave buttons were about all I could handle..a couple more weeks and you will be feeling better..

Thank you for the information-really helps to hear poistive things right now, so glad my appetite will eventually get better, as I have dropped 12 lbs. So hopefully will gain it back-don't care to buy new clothes as this withdrawal has racked up massage bills and thank god my insurance does pay for phys. therapy and some of the meds. I do have to pay for the lidoderm patch for the aches and pain but it has been worth it. So here is back at you and wish you everyday to get better and better. Day by day-truer words have never been said. Hope your days just keep getting easier and easier, Babbee, Sep 07 11:29 AM

Thank you so much for the great comeback-as these kind of nice remarks make  me more determined to stick it out. Right now my doctor has suggested no driving and living in the country is hard to get to counseling so been doing it on the phone-but will defenitley start going in person as suggested by my doctor. Hope you both stay on course and I still it should be illegal for even doctors to prescibe such poison. Roughest ride of my life. Hopefully the last, my family has been supportive and my husband a saint, but they all can't wait until  I say I want a budlight-as the family are social drinkers and Saturday night is family night. Of course until I started coming of this methadone. So here is to one more day straight-babbee, Sep 07 2008 11:19 AM

Congratulations 4 weeks is so AWSOME!!!!!!!!  I went c/t off of 25 mgs 6 months ago,one of the better decisions I've ever made in my life.It took me about 6 weeks to really feel hungry and want to eat.To be honest with you I put on 30 pounds being on methadone so I never really got too concerned about the eating. For a lot of the people here who have come off of methadone I've noticed 6 weeks seems to be a real turning point.Hang in there. You are doing a fantastic job!!!!!!!!!   All the best....Kim

Hi,
My husband was on methadone for 4 years. That was nine years ago.He had to w/d from like 65mgs b/c we coudn't catch up on the money we owed. We had insurance but it  did not cover medthadone. (We are both on suboxine now and it is covered except for co pays.)
Within 12 hrs of his last dose we went to the hospital. He was in intensive care for 12 days. After that he went to regular detox for 10 days.
For you to stop cold turkey is amazing. and four weeks! That is wonderful. I really admire you for doing it all on your own,
My husband said it was a good year before he felt himself again It took a long time to get his energy back. His appetite was forced. He ate allot of soup. Fruit. plenty of  water.( unfortunally he relapsed 10 months later),
so I think what you are feeling is probably normal. Maybe start with small meals. Eating something healthy a couple of times a day. I am sure with the drink you are taking is giving you allot of what your body needs. I always remind myself that I abused my body for some 28+ years , it isn't going to pop right back. Give yourself time. Do you have a counslor you can go to? or NA meetings? They are very helpful for aftercare.
You should be very proud of yourself for kickin that nasty drug.
Keep up the good work!!!!
best of luck to you
