Hey Your dr is messed up in the head. The sub isnt ment to be on it for all your life. The way subs work I was told is use it to get your life in order and get away from the pain pills. Then taper down. I was on it for two years and that was too long I think. I am now 24 days clean from it and I wondered why I waited so long to stop it but then again I do because scared of detox. When you taper down its not bad at all. Compared to pain pills. Dont get me wrong there is withdrawls but very minimal. It wasnt as bad as I thought. You both can get off the stuff dont let drs brain wash you. If you guys want to get off the stuff the sooner you do it the easier it will be. Trust me I have experience. I know 7 years is long but encremental change is better then failure. Start by tapering. Hang in there guys you all dont have to be on this crap forever unless you choose too.

Ya I have been on the subs for 7-1/2 yrs now too, the problem now lies on getting off of the subutex. I can't seem to get off it or even dwindle down I have tried to tapper down and I did for a while but now back up to 4 - 8mg a day. How do we get off this stuff is the ?  I have a Dr that is telling me I could be on it for the rest of my life and I just cant believe this nor do I want to, it seems it's harder to get off of then the Oxy Contin I was originally addicted too, so what ya think ?

I have been on subs for 8 years. I did 1 year of nothing prior to subs  but due to chronic pain it was horrible. I recently stopped 24 mg a day cold turkey for surgery and was so sick for 3 weeks. I thought it was from the surgery but I am pretty sure I was in sub withdrawal. I couldn't wait to get back on it and felt fine immediately when I did. I don't want to come off because of my pain issues. A slow taper under a doctors guidance would be the way I would do it.
