Nasty little craving...just need someone to say hi

Ewww.....nasty little craving with a mental wave all at once in the past 40 minutes! Past 4 days have been great but sneaky little devil is trying to rear his ugly head back in my life. Just needed to post my craving alert/mental wave alert, somehow it makes it go by easier and faster when I post.

Bucksfan=Boredom.  YOU laughed at US for typing furiously to you?  Listen to Sara...
get out of your head and maybe think about something other than yourself...Now that would be a pleasant change for the better...

Im just shaking my head. You said your literally laughing thinking about everyone trying to type as fast as possible, yikes. Ya we do try to type fast when people need help cause we care, but this is no joke.  I have never seen someone create so many of their own posts and I have been here 3 years almost. I will keep my mouth shut before I tell you something I regret.

Congrats on your clean time.

I used to whistle the theme song to "I dream of Genie" at work to help get over cravings.  It was fun to get it stuck in everybody else's head.  LOL!!!!!!!!!

I gotta tell ya something here.....We dont laugh when we see someone who posts about craving.  That is real to us and when we respond we are serious about helping that person get thru without using so please dont take our responses lightly or think we are typing a 100 miles an hour.....we arent.  We take the time to think about YOUR situation and respond accordingly.  As for the boredom, you are in control of that.  You have to find your own entertainment or activities.  You seem to be worrying about that alot and i dont want that to be an excuse for you to use.  I am my own entertainment committee and i like that.  Get going on some aftercare before you drive yourself nuts.  Slow down and start living~~~~~sara

It wasnt that big of deal, nowhere near a panic attack just a craving and nowhere near as bad as some may get...just wanted some peep to say hi to help me through. Sorry if I made it sound so severe. Also, I meant to say that besides that I am perfectly normal not that is all I think about all day long is boredom. If noone responded then  I would have gone for a walk, talked with family or go see a friend. I was just at the office and posted on this site b/c I felt like that would be the easiest way.

hey dude...cravings su c  k but there a fact of life when your an addict....my  conslor always tells me to be mindful....do a self talk....is this rachinaell thinking or is this the addict in me
do what ever it takes to occupie your time...music works for me the cravings only last 1/2 hr or so if you dont obsess on them....you need to step up the meeting I normally see a substance abuse conlor once a week but when I start to crave im off to a N/A meeting
I try and get a couple in every month regardless it will help you aftercare shouldn't be considered optional it is a critical part of recovery....going it alone is a short term solution to a long term problem....church is good....I try to make it every sun but its not enough by it self you need some place to vent the dirty laundry about addiction and thats done with a conslor or at a meeting...please plug in and save yourself a relapse ...posting was good but you need more  good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Here is my question after reading your post.....

You said..you are good as it has passed?  What happens next time?  Or when you have one that is worse?  Or no one responds cause it's the middle of the night or a holiday or a weekend?  You need some help and support WHERE YOU ARE!  And you are over thinking WAY too much.  You said that you have a problem with boredom or thinking about boredom???  I don't think about boredom.  You shouldn't either.  That is WAY over thinking.  And it is dreading stuff that is unnecessary.  AND inevitable.  We all get bored, but I am not going to dread it!  I dislike it, but I'm not gonna let it give me an anxiety attack.

Roll with it.  Don't think so much.  Get some counseling.  Go back to meetings.  The church thing is awesome.  Keep that up!  Just start some forward movement, and quit thinking yourself into a panic attack!

"I'M LITERALLY LAUGHING THINKING ABOUT EVERYONE TRYING TO TYPE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE".

What the hell is that?  You think this is a damn joke?  You get off watching everyone come running to YOU??    Are you THAT selfish?    CRAVINGS are serious...it's not a joke. Those of us who know them well don't generally laugh before, during and after !!!

You have made me think that posting to you is a HUGE waste of time!!!

Thanks guys, we are good as it has passed! Its amazing how when you scream help the forum comes running! That is awesome, I am literally laughing thinking about everyone trying to type as fast as possible! I did attend a meeting but have not been to one since. I did start going to church and trying to stick with that. I am only hanging out with sober friends & family. I am staying active, exersizing & have  healthy diet/vitamin regiment & trying to change my lifestyle or daily routines somewhat. The biggest problem I have is boredom or thinking of boredom. That is the killer and then that brings my mood down/motivation and the cravings on. That is something that I will work on and it takes time to heal. Besides that, I am good to go! Anyways, my medhelp family thank you so much for yet again answering the call!

Bucksfan, we have been going through this together for 2 weeks now, you are a week ahead of me. It is time to find something that will help you everyday. (or a combination of things) Some kind of support structure, and something healthy , anything but DOC. Try changing up your routine. I know a day at the office is what it is, but you can make some adjustments. You are 25 days old, 5 away from the big 30. We got this, you can do it. Everyone here appreciates you and what you have shared with so many... Hang in there. Andrew

Yes tramahater is right. Are you doing any aftercare? Another thing that helps me is I come on here and see who is just starting the detox to encourage them and as I type the craving does go away because then I remember what I had to go through to get to this point of feeling good again. If you take your mind off of your situation and focus on helping others you will find it therapeutic and the cravings disappear.  Good luck!

You are in control of you now, not your addiction.  Get yourself busy, look around at all you have to be grateful for and breath deeply.   You can and will get thru this!!        sara

Hey guys....just remind me, because I can't always remember everything about all the posts, are you all doing any therapy or meetings?  That can have a HUGE impact on your cravings and how you are able to deal with them.

I am doing everything you are supposed to just being at the office, that migraine kicking in & the thought of no football or anything fun to do tonight brought it on. Not to mention that when I was in the thick of the mental battle (day7-19) the afternoon work days were the worst. I found that when I dont have plans to do anything aka boredom that is when my worst mental times are. I am pushing through but it was a strong one, thanks onthefence for posting something you have already helped as it was about an 8 now a 4. Motivation/mental/craving
