methadone detox vs. suboxen detox

Does anyone have first hand knowledge about how it feels to detox (properly) off of methadone compared to detoxing off Suboxen????   I heard about cousins, friends and roomates.(but that doesn't help)...I'd really love to speak with someone who has detoxed the proper way, off of both of them.  I am contemplating detoxing straight from meth or gettng to 25mg. then switchen to Suboxen. Don't know if its worth it or not. Or maybe I should just detox off the meth.  I am afraid to leave myself vulnerable and will therefore continue with the Naltrexone; no matter what decision I make, as far as Methadone or Suboxen.  Wish I could find a private doctor who would give me methadone and over see my detox; but that impossible to find!

Im not slamming you spacejam. I went through the same thing.  I have no idea why its such a divided thing -- some people have little to no problems coming off.  For others, like me, it was a living nightmare - a detox I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.  Ive not used methadone.. but I've also heard absolute horror stories about it.  Not sure   Are you off sub now?  Im off sub a little over 6 months now -- after having been on it for over 2 1/2 years.. It has been quite a journey - thats for sure.  Thank God that's over.  Feeling fine at the 6 month mark... but it was a tough road to travel.  Sobriety is the way to go.  Thats for sure.  Life is soo much better now than it has been in so many years.

Fire68:  Im not sure which is the worse of the two cause I didnt use methadone.  I know someone who has used both to detox and will ask him to comment on this post - ok.  Good luck!

I've not detoxed off of meth, but I can certainly tell you that I"ve had a hellava time getting off Sub. Some people come off fine. But there are many of us who have had BAD w/d and PAWS due to Sub w/d. Don't believe what the docs tell you all the time. I am addicted to this dang Sub! Been on it for 3 yrs and trying to get off now. And its harder then any other narc I"ve been on! Now many will slam me for this. But this is JUST MY experience. And there are MANY others who are fighting the same battle. It *****! The w/d from Sub were VERY emotional for me, the worse emotional stuff I've EVER been thru! Crying jags, deep depression, severe anxiety, ect. But like I said, some people don't go thru it that bad. Its a toss up as to how you'll react.
I suggest that people go thru a SHORT Sub detox with just enough mgs to keep you from w/d from your previous drug, and then wean from there. MANY Sub docs give out SO much bad info I just cannot believe it. I've been studying and investigating Sub since I got on it 3 yrs ago and there are more and more people having problems with it, and it seems that every Sub doc has his/her own dosing guidelines instead of following the guidelines that have been set for them thru SAMSHA.
I would also highly suggest a support group. That has saved my butt! I hope the best for you in your detox. I hope you remain clean one day at a time for a life time! I had 7 yrs when I got on Sub that was for a quick detox from migraine meds and it has turned my world upside down. I KNOW what recovery is like and its the bomb. But it takes a lot of work and time. I'll do anything I can do help ya stay clean!

i have detoxed off of both drugs several differerent ways, its basically for me the same detox, i felt hopless and depressed during both detoxes, and when i was on these drugs there were periods of time when i could not afford them, when i was on suboxone the doctor was $200 a month and the pills were $35 a day, so when i would run out of money i would go through the same feelings as i did when i ran out of other drugs, my body honestly did not know the difference between the 2 drugs you mentioned when it came to running out or detoxing,,,
i also took 50 mgs revia/naltrexone, my first year clean, but i got sick of loosing my hair and having gastro problems, their now giving people ldn, low dose naltrexon, do you know what mg you are going to be on? keep in mind that revia is not good for your body, its suggested that you get a base line liver test every 3-4 months, its really hard for people to take this drug and not feel sick all the time, after all its narcan,
if you are determined to stay on matience drugs for a while, the suboxone is probably safer than methadone, i am a fan of complete abstinance, but i understand people who go on matience, i myself was on methadone or suboxone for a really long time
