ty for the support. and i wish you luck with all your sobrietys
hi i am so glad to hear your son went to rehab. that is wonderful news.are you going to a clinic to get your meth? my husband was on meth for ten years and will be clean for one year on feb23rd.i thank the Lord. we went to the clinic and basically had to demand a detox program. when we told the doctor my husband wanted to detox the doctor actually laughed and said nobody ever gets of methadone. so they did taper him it definitely is slow. he jumped off at 20mg he was also taking xanax for about 5 years so he went cold turkey on a double whammy. he went into a detox center for 5 days and then into a rehab for 3 months. can't tell you a taper plan but if you do have a doctor have them taper for you.our three oldest children also used but i thank God they didn't do opiates. unfortunately they do as we do not as we say. we are still healing day by day we had alot of years of hell. between my husband and my children using i thought i would go crazy. i had horrible panic attacks and actually starting taking xanax and starting smoking pot again. my children and i have been clean for about a year and a half. i also have 2 younger children that i hope and pray never start to use seeing and living the destruction it caused in our family. i will keep you and him both in my prayers.
Blessings

i just wanted to ty for your response it means alot to me and my son
ty gnarly. You have been very helpful during this process. My son has put himself into a recovery center. He is 5 days clean now and the withdrawls are not to bad. I will be going to see him this sat. I cant wait to see him. I dont think he was taking the methadone alot and not to high of a dose. It was mainly to keep him from getting sick. I just feel like a terrible father. i think its been harder on me than him. anyhow i would like to start coming down off the methadone. I have been reading alot about the tapering on here. i am on 400 mil. What do you think i should try to go down to and how fast? being on that high of a dose and all. i am so tired of not being able to sleep. up an hour sleep an hour. i hate it. any advice ill take to heart and ty
Why not try ( with medical supervision) and find a sufficient dose of methadone to mitigate the oxy and morphine withdrawals and then taper of the methadone alone. Its fuzzy logic to try and treat them all separately when they could all be brought under the methadone umbrella. Most reputable medical detox facility would laugh at the notion of treating an opiate addict with 3 different opiate/opioids.
If he is addicted to opiates/opioids and has been using methadone regularly, there is no escaping the probability that he will experience methadone-esque withdrawals. So, if a methadone detox is inevitable, why not combine all 3 meds into an equivalent methadone dose and work from there.
I must stress that any attempt to titrate methadone must only be attempted with the full knowledge and support of a medical professional.
Good luck with your son. Regards Jeremy.
HI and welcome to the forum....400 mil WOW....have you ever thought of coming off ??
I was at 150 and thought that was high.....as far as your son goes it really depends on how long he has been on the methadone....I dont have to tell you the grip this stuff will put you under
and the shorter the time he's on it the ezer it will be to come off......logically coming off the oxy and morphine should go first the methadone will help with the withdrawals but if he has only been on the methadone a short time it is a lot ezer coming off morphine and oxy then methadone so your kinda in a ketch 22 here it really depends a lot on how long he's been doing the methadone to witsh way you come off this stuff....I suggest you refer him to our site we can help him answer questions and give him support wile he does this hes got quite a cocktail going on there and its not going to be ez to kick your a good dad looking this up for him but in the end it will be up to him to do the work to get claen good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
Hi Chris and Welcome,
If I understood you correctly, your son is taking Morphine,Oxycontin and Methadone? If so, he is going to have a real difficult time tapering. I doubt that he can do it alone. If you can help him, that would be great. You have to be the strong one and hold his meds (lock them up) and dose them to him according to a set schedule. His best bet is to see his doctor and get on a proper taper schedule. He is also going to need some outside support to get him through this and keep him clean once his finishes the taper. Staying clean is not easy and is going to take a lot of work on his part, as I am certain you know from your own experience. He will need to learn how to live life clean and cope with each day and each event without the use of drugs.
It is a violation of our guidelines to provide a taper schedule either public or private. Please be wary of anyone who offers to give you a schedule in private---there are no doctors here and it can be dangerous. I am sure you want the best for him and will do the right thing.
If it is at all possible to get him into treatment, please consider it. The treatment centers are geared toward teaching us new coping skills and I am certain your son will benefit from it in a big way.
After he gets clean and is on his way, are you considering coming off of the Methadone yourself? I hope so for both of your sake.
Stick around here. We can help you with home remedies that will ease the physical withdrawal process.
