Hi well first off just know it can be done....I tapered off 150mg habit of 7yrs I was 47 when I did it and it took me 8 1/2 mo to do it....methadone hands down is the hardest of the narcotic to get off of
this is a lesson of perseverance and resolve you got to want it bad there is no completely painless way to get off this drug the best you can do is manage the withdrawal ...to fast and your in a constant state of withdrawal to slow and it takes forever I always say this is a race one by the tortus not the hare...keep posting for support we all want to see you make it.......................Gnarly......................................
I agree with posts above, more info will help ppl on here help you. but slow tapering is best. expect some anxiety, a little depression and discomfort. I tapered from 60mg down to 30mg and then switched to subutex. the tapering was easier than switching. I don't suggest it if you think you can come off methadone and stay clean. Good luck. Keep us posted. do u go to a clinic? best wishes
A slow taper is best, which was hard for me, because I got my 'dones on the street. How much, how long you been taking them? Do you take it for addiction or pain? What kind of habit did you have before the dones? It is different for everyone, but totally possible, but we need more info to knowhow to help you. It was very difficult to get off methadone, but it has been totally worth it. I didn't believe I would ever heal, but I used the people's faith around here to hold me over until I believed in myself. Look forward to getting to know you.
