my experience with rx that help for people thinking of quitting

Although I am very early in my detox this is in no way my first go at it. Thought I would share some of the things my doctor had used to hep me through it   if your wanting to do it without any replacement type meds the one that I have used and am using this time is clonodine. Unlike benzos and antidepressants this drug is a blood pressure medication. All it really helps with is that creepy crawly tickly sensation you can get. I get it bad at bed time when I'm still . the perk of it is it doesn't give me any sort of pleasure like benzos. But don't get me wrong it isn't a miracle drug. It's still very tough. I quit taking my anti anxiety meds a few weeks ago which may seem silly to do just before detoxing but that was a personal and difficult decision. I did take some benzos tonight when I had my full on panic attack but not enough to give me any pleasure. As for antidepressants and daily antianxiety meds I say if they can help you get off your drug of choice in my opinion go for it. Don't be afraid to seek medical help for assistance in your battle. Find a doctor with some experience with addiction and make s plan with them that works best for you. Hope that helps someone out there. Best wishes all

Yes good choice. Clonidine (bp) med has been used by many Dr for many years now. I was prescribed it over 10 years ago but was not ready to give up my Meds yet. I did finally go c/t from 3 meds back in Sept and took the clonidine for 2 weeks at night only. Now I do mostly all natural. They also will prescribe you a non-additive med called Buspar for anxiety. I have been on here for awhile and this is a prescribe Med we push on here once in a while. It does work good for opiate w/ds. I wish you the best and Congratulations for wanting to take your life back..Keep knocking down them days.
Bless

Hi there,
I was given an antidepressant and low dose of klonopin (1 mg a day) to help me off the tramadol. I was also given Requip for Restless legs, but I am off of that now (got off at day 50) and I agree, do what the doc says, take it as prescribed (don't play doctor, we suck at that!) and just put as many days between you and your drug of choice, then you can worry about getting off the other meds when you are stronger in your recovery and not a bundle of symptoms. Benzos have never been my DOC, and I have gotten off of low doses of it before with little difficulty.
I'm happy you found something to help you. Congrats on your detox! its the start of something better, I'm new at this too but at day 55 I really feel amazed at how much better everything got around day 30.
Thanks for your post.
