nearly three months off methadone

Hello to all,
thanks to you all that helped me thru the methadone detox.I can read agian,write,and planning my future.I'm not painting oils agian yet but sure it will come...
I have one hurdle to tackle next.While I was on pain meds for my back my doctor also had me on diazapam 10mg,for back spasms.A low amount but for along time (4 years).I want to stop,I have a heart condition,arithmia.When I jumped off methadone at 30mg, 10 days later I was in the ER in atrilfibralation and detoxing.They electrocardioverted me back into sinus rythumn heart beat,I dont want to end up there agian,at least for awhile.
Does anyone have suggetions regarding tappering off diazapam ?thanks in advance.

Congrats for getting off methadone!! I dont have any knowledge regarding diazapam? But I do know how difficult methadone detox can be, it's a tough one. Penelope

Don't know about the diazapam. Congrats on getting off the methadone ! How long are you going to be on sub?  Not too long I hope that's a hard one to stop also.

I am not familiar with valium/benzo addiction personally...some on here are struggling with it...i do know there is good information at benzo dot uk dot org   best to have ur doctor supervise ur taper slowly with you...valium is actually weaker than most of the benzos i see on here...weaker than klonpin, xanax and ativan....not that it means it still wont be a problem but u can do it...if u kicked methadone then this is in ur realm of do-ativity!  many use a weaker benzo to taper from valium like chlorazepate or librium...talk to ur doctor and good luck

i dont know how much you should taper...but, with your health probs you should talk about this with your dr and let him help you with a plan.  3 months off methadone is an awesome accomplishment.  be proud of yourself.
