I completely agree with ochooked.  I say this because I am living it. When on sub I sang its praises... I talked to many addicted friends about how wonderful it was..  Wow what a miracle, no more drugs and I am withdrawal free.  It started out that way.  Sub quickly became my drug of choice, even though I did not feel high on it nor did I like the sick dizzy headachey feeling it gave me -- ultimately my body just needed it to get through the day - just like my painkillers.  I took sub under very careful supervision by my doctor. I did exactly what he told me to do-a long, slow taper..the longer the better I was told.. an almost 2 year taper.  I am 38 days since my last sub and I am still in withdrawal, both physically and mentally. I knew what it was but I did not know how strong a hold it takes and how difficult it is to break free from.  I like ochooked have not heard from too many people who have taken sub and stopped it that have good stories... there are a few people who I have talked to that took it short term, used it as it should have been used and it helped them but I would say the majority of us sub users who are now off sub have paid a very high and completely unexpected price.  I really think that any step in the direction of becomming clean is a good one and an important one and there is certainly a need and use for suboxone, but I would caution anyone interested in this medication to really do your research and talk to people who have been on and gotten off and make your decision from there..Best of luck to all!

Thanks for posting Colee ----   I too was on Sub and was singing its praises  --- until I tried to stop the Sub.  I tapered down to only a crumb and then jumped off.   I was in horrible W/D's for well over a month ---- much worse than if I had only used the Vicodin I had to taper with and quit.  Most of the people who have posted against Sub on this site are those who are no longer taking it.   The few who do post about how good it is are the ones who are still on it.  I would bet that almost all of the Sub users are just like I was -- looking for the way to come off of Opiates and avoid W/D's -----  I would have done anything to avoid them -----  Unfortunately, the W/D's from Sub are so much worse than anything except Methadone or Heroin ------.  As long as you are taking Sub, you may think it is very good ----b/c it does take away the W/D's.  I do hope you will be the one who manages to get off of it and come back and post a positive experience.  The ratio of Sub users who have finally left it behind are probably 20 to 1 against advising anyone to use it.   Sub is more powerful than most of the other Opiates that we used as our DOC so it deceives so badly because the person thinks they are 'normal' --- But Oh the horrible W/D's if you quit taking it - and they seem to go on forever -- day after day -- I was over 40 days away from Sub and still having problems.  Anyway, Colee10 ----  I do wish you the best and want the subject of Sub to be discussed in a very polite way, with respect.  There are many people who are out there and come to this site for information and hope ----  They need to be armed with the experiences of other addicts who have gotten clean.  All the best.

I am currently being treated with Suboxone.  I had a habit of 50+ hydros a day.  Woke up, decided I was done, but needed help, as with the extent of my habit, physically, I was putting myself in danger if I wasnt monitored by a trained doctor.  That being said,  I have been clean off of the hydros for about 7 days now.  I take one suboxone a day, and dont feel dizzy, sick, etc.  I am not craving, or anxious for the hydros at all, and surpassed the withdrawl from them.  Please take my advice, you must be careful.  This is something that, if not taken correctly, can depress your respiratory system within a half hour.   As for getting addicted, I think if you follow instructions, as I wish I would have years ago, you shouldnt have a problem.  If you have any questions......I might be able to help!

I agree. Don't do subs given from a friend etc. You need to see a doctor that perhaps can help you through the w/d without taking subs. I am currently decresing my dose but I know after 10 weeks of being on them, I am hooked. Please seek a doctor's advice and if you can and addiction specialist. Don't let them talk you into subs. Go in there and tell them you are against them but need help (meds) to make the w/d less intense.

Good luck and again try not to fall victim to the subs. I wish I found this site b/f I went on the subs b/c I would have CT it since I was on disability at the time. Prayers to you

Hey Milo -- I agree with Avis ---- Using Sub to come off of Narco is like using an atomic bomb when you only need a hand grenade.  It is a very powerful drug and I became addicted to it in only 21 days.  Just be careful if you decide to use it and keep the dose as small as you can to get relief and then taper quickly off of it.   My own opinion is that coming off of Narco is so much easier than trying to kick Sub.  All the best no matter which way you go.

did you get the subtex from the dr?  you should really be under supervision to take that, it is a very powerful opiate.  my daughter took the suboxone...it did not make her feel that way.  she said she felt normal.  how long do you plan to take it?
