on methadone for almost 3 weeks now

i have also quit drinking over 2months, quit percs nearly 3 weeks 17 days, smoking 1 week on nicorette. what can i do to maintin clean life and is methadone n nicortee good or bad?

please consider going off the methadone NOW! its bad news. Perkl w/ds are nothing and i mean NOTHING compared to whats in store for you if you do not quit now with the methadone. Methadone is a very powerfull drug--much more so that loratabs or perks--the w/ds last week and even months compared to days on the perks. you have already been off the persks long enough that thw\e w/ds have pased---now qiuit the methadone and w/d off of it agter the 3 week usage while you can--it will only GET ALOT WORSE

that's great! alot to do at once though. for me going to meetings and working the 12 steps is helping me maintain. i did the meth until i could get on the suboxone. i was going to meetings on meth, but i was high. if you're high at a meeting, you're just supposed to listen. so i told them everything and was able to share through the transition. i have tried everything else. 12 steps can work for anybody with a true desire. good luck, sway

HI after being a methadone addict for 6 1/2 yrs I would tell you run the other way also
you haven't been on it that long for it to have its hooks in you to deep yet ...it sounds like you went on it to quit the pecs...??? if you did it to beat withdrawals your making a big mistake my use spiraled up from 30mg to 150ml  and then it took 8 1/2 mo of tapering going in and out of withdrawals along the way to get off it... the last 8 weeks where brutal ....I dont know what your dose is now but you should start to taper off NOW b/4 it gets to bad your withdrawal will be mild compared to what it will be if you stay on it and have to go thew it later...if you need help tapering just reply here and I will check later for your answer

Hun, methadone was the hardest thing i ever quit.  i don't know the reason you are on it or the dose, but i would run as far and fast as possible.  hydros can be quit in a week or so, it took me 31 days to get off of methadone, and it was the most difficult thing i have ever dome.  i will be having back surgery and am back on hyro's till that is ovwer with, and will take an EXTREMELY gentle taper off of them because the methadone wds. scared me so bad. i am terrified of any wd's because of them.  Please ask your dr. for something else before it is too late to get off easily.   Lucy
