Why is it when Im ready for for help all the NA programs in my area mpls are closed to the public? The only open one is in the gay/lesbian community. I would be a lesbian if I was a woman but come on!! They say Minneapolis is high if not the leader in herion trafficing. Ive been on percs oc and norco whatever I can get legally, Im a single father of a 12 YR old whom I have no trouble raising using or in withdrawal. Its just time, or way past time for me, its all for legit chronic pain I have 7 fractured vertebrea from a fall being a concrete carpenter, so Im not denying the meds but for whatever reason cant take them as prescribed, run out early, ect. Thanks for any help in Minneapolis!!

Thats what I want, to do whatever it takes to get back on track, despite using my long term girlfriend who hands them to me at my scheduled dosing. She is a great help, she wont take aspirin for a headache so its safe. But I want to do it on my own and for whatever reason my sick mind comes up with I can't!!

Yeah, they mean that it's OK for you to come...just don't bring your girlfriend, spouse, best friend, etc.(unless they're an addict as well). Anyone can attend an open meeting. Go early, stay late and make friends. Do 90 meetings in 90 days, get a sponsor, and work the steps. It will change your life.

Yes that helps when I look up or call NA they say it is a closed meeting. I didnt know what this meant thanks!!

OK, if you see a meeting listed as "closed", it doesn't mean closed to the public...just closed to people that do not consider themselves addicts. Open meeting are for people to bring family members, girlfriends, even counselors. The closed meeting are for people that think they have a problem with drugs. Does this help? I've never seen any NA meeting closed to the public except those in prisons or institutions.
