Hi everybody, I want to open up by saying I have been addicted to tramadol for 3-4 years now.. I have been taking 15-20 pills a day for the last year or so. I finally decided 2 days ago that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I took what I thought was my last pill at 1 am on the morning of December 30th. I had given in and relapsed 19 hours later. I ended up taking 12 pills that day, well below my usual but still embarrassing. I haven't even tried to get over my addiction 1 day and I have already failed. The worst part is the anxiety and depression I get that is associated with the withdrawal. I am starting to think that because of my length of using and HUGE dependence I am going to have to taper off, problem is I want to end this NOW! It is very frustrating... I know how your wife feels hitman! We are here to support one another! We can do this!
How do you taper off tramadol my wife has been taking them for 2 years and wants to get off but she cant do it her body shuts down
hey marilyn,
good for you wanting to get off the trams. you can not go cold turkey from tramadol. it is very dangerous and can cause seizures. please talk to your doctor and get a taper plan. tapering is the only safe way to get off tramadol.
tramadol withdrawal has a withdrawal symptom that can cause brain zaps.
this can be quite uncomfortable.
you can do this with the help of your doctor.
Welcome marilyn - I don't know specifically about Tram, but many people here do and will be along to help you. In the meantime, If you would post your daily dose that will help in determining what it will be like to come off. From what I've read here, the withdrawal from tramadol is similar to opiates as I believe Tram is a synthetic opioid and works on the same receptors in the brain. Take care and I hope someone with personal experience with Trams
will be along shortly.
