snorting

i think my boyfriend has become an addict and i believe he is snorting the pain killers or maybe the antidepressants he is on.  what are some things to look for.  he is always broke, super emotional and takes vicodin for knee pain, clonapin for whatever and lexapro, vistiril.  I am thinking of leaving we have a two year old and i want to know if what i believe is true i need to know if my sone is safe.  he is always in his truck bent over i caught him yesterday and he said he was just pausing cause his knee hurt.  he went through $4000 in january which was his income tax returns, he pawned my engagement ring his family is in denial.  HELP!  I need some straight facts on how to prove what i think to be true.  Thank You...

Something is up sounds like...have you tried talking with him about it..be supportive because he may become defensive about it...If he will let you help him...get him on the forum or get as much info from the health pages as you can on quitting...main thing is that he will have to want this for himself..it is ultimately up to him to do the hard work...he is lucky to have you

It's more likely that he's snorting his pain killer than any other medicine that you listed. However it's possible that he's buying something that you don't even know about such as Roxicodone or Oxycontin. These are only possibilities but $4000 in a month does indicate a drug on a larger scale. If he's snorting anything his nose will be runny, you might find a straw laying around or perhaps a card of some type that he uses to crush the pills.
The most important thing for you to understand is that you can't control what he does. You can sit him down and talk to him, but if he won't admit to it then you are backed into a corner. Then you must decide if you can honestly spend the rest of your life with an addict because until he decides to come clean there's nothing you can do to help him.
