subutex for pain?

I have been taking subutex for pain management. I am a drug addict. I feel guilty using this med. I feel like i am not really clean. The subutex works pretty well for pain. i don't have any cravings for other drugs.  Still i feel like a wimp. Anyone have experience having a chronic illness and addiction? What did you do ? What did you tell others?

If it helps eliminate your pain as well as control your drug cravings and your doctor is glad to prescribe it, it sounds like you found the drug for you. Now why would you feel guilt for that? My doc has me on methadone for pain, I also wanted to be on it in hopes I could control my drug cravings, my Dr. doesn't know about any addiction problems. Sometimes I wonder if suboxone wouldn't be better for me, would need a different doctor though.

If you are under the care of a doctor for this and you arent using then i see no need for the guilt. From what i understand this medicine has helped a lot of people get their lives back. Make sure you have plenty of support, maybe attend some NA/AA meetings and keep posting here, we are all here for each other. Good luck and God Bless

yes the subutex is to treat pain. When I first got clean 11 months ago I went off everything. After about 5 months of being in and out of hospitals and using short acting pain meds  (my husband issued them to me as needed) my docs thought subutex was a better solution.  It works well --but like I said --I have guilt.

Is the subutex prescribed to you for the treatment of your addiction?
