subutex

what is meant by jumping off and half life?  I have taken 3 tablets of 8mg subutex over the past 7 days for vicodin withdrawl.  I don't want to stay on them or move to suboxone (which is what my dr wanted).  I have only 7 pills of 8mg left.  What should I do at this point.  I took time off of work last week so cannot take any more.  Any advice.  I value advice from other addicts more that this doctor who want me on suboxone.

Getting off sub quickly and taking the least you can to maintain thru wds is a gaol for those who dont want to use it long term....21 days is the cut off but some say they have a small wd from sub then, but it could also still be the DOC if they used alot in one day as a rule for a long time....half life is how long a drug sticks around in ur system/how long it takes the body to metabolize it and then excete it...some drugs have a longer half life than others...for istsnce..lortab has a short half laife...percocet is relatvely short...oxycontin is extended release so a longer half life.,..suboxone has a halflife of up to 3 days where lortab is 5-6 hours..methadone also has a long half life as well...therefore drugs like sub, methadone...oxycontn to a lesser degree are harder to wd from and the wd takes longer due to the long half life

when some one has been tapering/slowly cuting back their dose each day...sometimes they get to the point where it is time to "jump off"  or get it over with...where as CT is just putting down ur doc and doing no taper or anything...just all of the sudden QUIT

hope i helped..google the half life of your DOC and of suboxone and u may understand

I took Sub for a 14 year Oxycontin addiction.  I only took 8 pills of Sub during my 21 day taper to get off Sub.   This in my opinion is one of the most addictive drugs out there and so deceiving b/c most do not know how hard it grips you when you try to come off of it.  The most important thing in our lives is to get off the dope and Sub may be a tool to help us do that - --- but beware -- and get off of it as soon as you can.   I am still having Sub W/D's after 30 days off of it.  My own personal recommendation, after being on it, is to taper very fast and jump.  Hell hath no fury like a Sub addiction.  All the best.

so what does that mean?  If i take half of a 8mg subutex how long is it in my system?
It goes in 50% for how long? and then the other 50? I don't understand.  If I take half, in order to taper when should i take the other half? thanks so much for the advice

taper off with them .take a smaller amount until you are off them .half life is the amount of time that 50% of the medication is still in your system. jumping off is getting off the pills
