Is this ever going to end?

This is looking more & more complicated. Is this going to go on forever w/ weaning, wds, aftercare? Do anyone just stop & do ok?

it's really not complicated..it's just the way it is..Like studiogirl said..if your an addict in the true sense of the word..then it is something that has to be fought possibly forever...it doesn't sound like you have been on them too long at all even though you climbed to 10 a day very fast..you can either continue to taper or just stop..w/ds will last about a week with days 3-4 being the worst generally...look at the tomas recipe for amino portocol and vitamins etc..that does help.. I also have some helpful info in my journal .It's not just for people on methadone but really anyone w/ding from opiates..you will be ok...you can do this..keep posting, we have all been there

well i guess you need to be honest and decide if you are an addict or were just dependent on them because of pain.  I think there is a different between being addicted and being dependent (even though both cause wicked withdrawals). The thing is, it really doesnt end if you are an addict.  I am learning that the hard way now after years of telling myself that I wasnt that and I could just be like everyone else and use occasionally.  I mean feeling bad ends but the fight to stay clean doesnt because you always have to be aware of whats around you and fight for your sobriety.  Its not a bad thing I dont think, but it is a battle. Someone said to me that you need to devote as much as time to getting off the pills as you did to taking the pills.  I think thats a good way of looking at it. Aftercare and stuff may seem like a big hassle but people tell me time and time again how much it helps and if there is a way to get back to "normal" eventually then it is through things like meetings and aftercare.
Dont despair, i know how rough it is but "life will shrink or expand in proportion to your courage." and that is a direct quote from Ms. Eleanor Roosevelt herself. :)
take care

Everyone is different and it also depends on how much you took in a day and for how long.  Anyway you shake it, you will feel the effects of the W/D's.  And you will be sick, but look at it like this,, oh my I have the freakin flu!  If you had the flu what would you do??  Call in sick and stay in bed right.  That's why I just did the cold turkey thing as weaning seemed to me to just prolong the agony and the enevitable.  Just be strong and feel yourslf come back, that's the one thing that keeps me going.

Have only used for few mo for legit reasons But does make me feel better not sure this is just from pain relief but may be. Went up rather quickly to 10-12 hydro & now just want to stop & deal w/ pain & life on lifes term but finding have to wean myself which I am doing now 6/day.Have to be careful of depression more the anything else. Just want it over. Tired of depending upon a pill. Not sure if when I taper if insomnia, depression due to everything else going on or wd. Now I hear supposed to do aftercare.
