I did it!

I went to my PCP today about getting off the fentanyl (200 ug / 2 days) and oxycodone (120 mg twice / day for BT pain).  She was very supportive -- maybe too supportive?!?  She decreased my fentanyl to 175 every 2 days but left the oxy as is--she said I may need it for extra pain.  She also prescribed clonidine 1-2 mg 2x day as needed at my request as well as ambien for sleep. I also asked for gabepentin to help with pain but she didn't want too many variables at one time.

I think i am going to taper a bit quicker than she suggested.  Now that I have the clonidine I may cut the doses in half?  Maybe I should put the extras in a safety deposit box so I am not tempted?

Any thoughts or words of encouragement?  I need some support, I am also going through a difficult divorce and having a hard time...thanks to all.

No, I don't have anyone to help me with the oxycodone.  She even wrote for too many (300 of 30 mg tablets!! i didn't notice til I filled the script) in case I need more for BT pain.  I live by myself and this will not be easy...

great job. no stick with the taper plan dropping 25 mcg of fentanyl is enough at this point. it is best to do the fentanyl first then the oxys.
do you have someone to help you control your oxy intake?

Hi. I've been waiting for you to return from your Dr.
Yes. Put them in Safety box.
No- do not invent your own plan. Drs go to University for 10-12 years for a reason. Follow your Drs instruction on the reduction plan that has been set for you & your condition.
I also agree with Dr on Gabepentin. I was on them with codeine & thought,no problem. I'll just c/t the Gabe. Incredibly wrong. The withdrawals started after about 30 hours. For me, & this was only how it hit me, the wds off Gabe were more intense than any opioid I ever withdrawal Ed  from. I went thru a Dr supervised taper. took over 6 months.
Your Taper Buddy- providing you'd like one. Pamela
