subutex NOT suboxone (they r different) questions

Ok I posted about my addiction earlier but now I would like personal or knowledgeable experience with as I said subutex not suboxone. I went thru hell n those of u whove withdrawn I know can relate. And thx for help I did get from ppl here! I was taking 10 or more 30mg roxycodone daily for years! they gave me soooooo much energy I was 'super single mom of two boys 9 and 5' but I had to stop I was spinning out of control with them! I came clean to my doc on Monday he gave me 8mg subutex every 12 hrs for 30 days. But I tried it Tue morn like I was supposed to and it didn't touch the withdrawls...so I dug to my core and kinda cold turkeyed it (went from 300+ mg a day to taking the tiniest piece, like less then 10mg a day for 4 days. It's was hell the worst physical/mental battle to only take that little but I had to get thru it. This morn I tried the subutex again and Idk if it was that or what but I felt sooooo much better. But now what I'm thinking is that since the hell I think is over and I went thru the worst of it I hope already that I'm not so sure about the 8mg subutex. When I took it this morn I kinda felt like my energy was back a little...but at same time I don't want false energy...I want me back...so since I kinda cold turkeyed it for those days should I still take the subutex? And since in those 4days I was down to 10mg roxy or less a day maybe the 8mg subutex was too much? But I did feel better, not over the whole withdrawls yet, but better. O and I only took it once this morn didn't take the second dose....but I can say I am OFF roxys! Yay yay yay! Anyone reallllly know about subutex?

Ok good morning every1. Thx again for sooo many stories that helped me! But I re read everything I babbled and I suppose was I was really tryin to get out was.....since I basically CTed it for 4 or 5 days maybe the 8mg is too much for me now. How quickly does ones tolerance go down? I did feel better, and I haven't taken it this morn and I kinda feel blah....no where near those days but blah. I think ima try 1/2 right now n c if that helps....

Thx guys. No I don't feel like I want to use again....I miss the energy but will never forgive myself for doing this to myself. I used a shame method and made myself feel like the biggest piece of crap for using them. I don't have a sponsor or aftercare I am a single mom with 2 boys (who just think mommy is sick for a few) and down to almost 0$. The subutex was 250! For generic!  That's what I wasn't sure of I tried the sub Tue and it did nothing so I didn't take it again til 2day....so I think worst is over physically, but the cravings aren't that bad cuz I don't want to ever go thru that again! Have yall heard or 8mg 2x daily for withdraw.....will talk more 2mrrw I'm falling asleep now.... thank u so much every1a!   Night!

1st congrats to you!!!!!!!!!  not many people can find it in themselves and just stop.  if i was you i would keep taking the subutex cause it can only make it easier for you. if you think 8mg may be to much just call the dr. im sure he will lower it for you and that will only prove to him your dedicated to stopping the roxy's.  conrats again and good luck.

Congrats on getting off your roxies, that was quite a dose to come off of.

I was on suboxone for 2 years, and while they are indeed different medications, the only real difference is the subutex is given to patients that are not at risk for IV use, or have a sensitivity to naloxone. As long as a user is not injecting their meds, the 'one and 'tex are identical.

Personally, you have made it a good way through the oxy wd's.  How are your cravings doing? Are you in aftercare?

If you can stay clean, I would say avoid the sub for now... Its a great medicine, but comes with its own set of hurdles, and a long drawn out wd. No where as sever as oxy wd, but long as hell!!!

Get into some aftercare, and focus on staying clean. If that doesnt work out, or you feel that you are at risk of using again, or havent taken any aftercare steps, then possibly reconsider the sub.  But use it as a last resort.

16mgs of sub a day was possibly not holding you over, which is why you werent getting much relief. The induction process usually occurs over a few days to allow the doc to titrate a dose that relieves wd's and cravings, but does not make you feel sedated. Prescribing sub accurately is an art if I say so myself!

Head over to NAABT.org they have a lot of info on sub. Educate yourself and make an informed decision!

Good luck,
Henry
