I just wanted to put in my two cents on all of this. I have been taking two Tramadol's once a day for eight months now. I decided on Friday that I was going to stop...I began taking them for an inflammed sacroilliac joint as a way for relief...it was a long term plan by my doctor. I just don't want to be married to these pills forever. Until I started reading posts on this forum, I never knew that you had to 'ween' yourself off of these...so, let me tell you, yesterday and most of today have been hell. Crazy anxious, cold chills, discomfort, diarrhea, uncontrollable crying, aches, pains, you name it. Oh...and there was no way that I could sleep. So I read this forum and decided to taper...so I took 50mg less than I am used to...one and one half pill...I feel so much better...I still have some of those symptoms slightly but nothing like before and I can manage the symptoms that I do have. This is the way to do it...good luck to everyone!

Sounds like a plan. Go for it and good luck. avisg will be back later, maybe tomorrow. She is a great resource for Trams.
thank you! I made a schedule for taper beginning with 100 mg a day for a couple of days, and then went down slowly for 15 days (last two days 1/2 50mg pill once day, and then stop. I have exactly 17 pills, and will end up not having any the 16 th of this month when I am having a pool party....yikes! scary, but I will have some rum and coke (coke a cola..lol) wish me luck, and thanks a bunch again.
http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/725 copy & paste this. It is in avisg journal on how to taper off Tramadol.
Once you have been on it for a while, you are dependent on it. Tramadol should always be tapered off of.
