tramadol addiction

I am a 45 yr old woman and have been taking tramadol for 12 yrs, I was first perscribed Ultram (tramadol) for cracked ribs from a cronic cough.It would help the pain a little, but my cough was completely gone . I have always suffered from a cronic cough......so this was the miracle drug.I have been detoxed 2 times. In 2004 I was seen by a palmanoligist who gave me the ok to take Tramadol ( a pain medication) for cough. I was just wondering if any one else has taken Tramadol for a cronic cough?

To anyone thinking of taking Tramadol, please don't.  I have abused it for almost three years, and I am going to detox tomorrow.  I really don't feel like living anymore, but I have so much.

it is used for pain not coughs.
Try to get off it!

that is not a treatment of choice as a rule for a chronic ough...not sure of ur dose but may be time to get rid of the trams..dangerous drug

I have never heard of it being used for cronic cough .Are you planing on going off of it?
