tramadol and rebound pain

After using tramadol for 3 yrs. at the same dose, can it cause rebound pain?

Thanks for your response. As I taper off tramadol, will the pain get worse? The burning nerve pain is actually benzo withdrawal symptom. Doctors did not know this when they prescribed tramadol. It helped at first, but then it didn't. Was scared to stop it because of horror stories online about coming off of it. Appreciate you!

Yes. Long term use of pain killers, even tramadol can change the pain receptors and when you stop using it you can experience heightened sensitivity and rebound pain. Of course, if you've been using it for pain related reasons its also possible that the health condition that prompted the doctor to prescribe tramadol hasn't been resolved. Talk to your doctor before changing your dose of tramadol
