For me it was worse - tramadol is the WORST!
And she's probably addicted - after taking it for a while you definitely build a tolerance and a likely dependence to it.
And YES it's an opiate - a synthetic one AND an anti-depressant - so it's bad all around.
So is Tramadol safe to take? I have a friend in recovery from being a drug addict for 24 yrs.now, and she said it is not addicting, relieves her pain.. and is a fabulous thing for her arthritis. Is it safe to say it is not addicting, and non-narcotic and safe for an addict. From all I am reading it seems it is JUST a BAD drug.
"cet" means tylenol..like ga guy said...not all drugs with tylenol say "cet" tho...lortab does not...percocet and lorcet do...but they all contain tylenol///ultracet is tam with tylenol....Ultram is just tramadol///tramadol is the generic name and Ultam is a brand name
Trams do have both an AD quality causing increased seratonin/which is the same action as many popular ADs...zoloft, lexapro, prozac paxil, celexa...but it is an intense immediate effect with trams and these other ADs have to build up over time to help depression...2-4 weeks is the norm for most SSRIs to start working
Tramadol is not a true narcotic but affects the same receptor sites as narcotics do...hence they have an addictive quality just like narcotics do...
so basically trams are a double whammy when stopping this drug after long term use/addiction....a narcotic wd and an AD withdrawal...most who cave during or after tram wd is due to the depression//that can be much more intense than a narcotic wd altho other symptoms of narcotic wd like the runs are usually less intense with tram wd....RLS is often more severe with tram wd than with narcotic wd..tram has along half life compared to oxy or hydro so wd from trams lasts alot longer as well
For a drug that provides very little pain relief..this drug is too risky to even bother with if addiction is an issue..Being a chronic painer..and an addict as well...and i HAD to choose btw oxy or hydro verses tramadol/I would choose oxy or hydro cos at least there is some sort of pain relief available/only for a while due to tolerence...but trams are so weak as far as pain control peeps pop many to provide relief//and in the meantime their brain becomes addicted///plus narcs can be stopped CT as a rule safely...trams can not due to seizure risk with abrupt cessation/they must be tapered...too much risk for lil or no pain control....keep posting
Tramadol is Tramadol...Whether listed as Tramadol HCL or Tramadol. It's a chemical vastly like Effexor but without opiate properties. Think of it as a stripped down version of codeine with antidepressant properties. Ultram is nothing more than the Brand name for Tramadol and Ultram ER is a timed release of Tramadol. Ultracet is merely Tramdol and Tylenol in the same pill.
