Thank you pillguy. I get a little nervous for suggesting it/. I was only on it 6 days. But it was literally my miracle drug. I had ZERO withdrawals and trust me in the past I've come off of tramadol with nothing and it was worse than the day my 22 year old brother committed suicide if that tells you anything.
I'm a real skeptic when it comes to medicine that helps withdrawal symptoms. Most did not work for me. I found GABApentin to be something like a miracle drug. Sounds like it was for Tramadollover1234 also. It helped with the anxiety and sleep. Research the drug carefully and make sure it's not contra-indicated by any other Meds you might be taking or allergies you have.
Gabapentin is not the answer and you don't want to trade one drug for another. I'm only saying in helped ME.
Be careful...I too am an alcoholic - haven't drank for 30 years, but found pills soon after I stopped, and I was off to the races. You need to be honest - is your pain legit, better now, or is it an excuse to substitute pills for booze. We are addicts - we take things because we like to. The bigger problem is, once you've stopped trams, what then? Is it recovery, staying clean and sober, or will you slip in to something else? Your head will lie to you. You have to decide how your life will go from this point on.

thanks for the suggestion, will consider
thank you will check it out
I used gabapentin to get off it. It helped me soooooo much but I was only on it 6 days. Everyone is different though. You just don't want to take it long term as I have heard the withdrawals are horrible from the gabapentin. Good luck!
There is a,support room for Tramadol. In upper right search engine on this page put in Emilypost#62
I started taking them self prescribed for body pain. I'm also an alcoholic and started subing these. Haven't drank in ten months. Not from a dr., want to try by myself but will enlist medical pro if I can't.
thank you, I will do more research as well as reading suggestions. I did finally tell a close friend today which is good I think.
We aren't docs so we can't tell you what dosage you should take or what the taper schedule should be. What you've already done is a great first step. Dealing with the withdrawal effects of tramadol is a very personal thing but I cab give you a general rule of thumb; the more you hurt the more you heal. You're dealing with competing interests here. The more comfortable you are the longer it will take. you will need to find this balance for yourself, what works for your particular situation.
As I said we can't give you specific taper instructions but you can easily Google the topic and find lots of info. Don't believe any one source, this is the Internet after all, but after reading many sources you'll start to see a consensus on what works. Keep posting. I'll look forward to reading how you beat this.
Cheers,
Welcome to MedHelp...First, a few questions; why are you taking them? Do you get them via a script, from a doctor? Why have you decided to quit?
Trams can be difficult to detox from. I'd suggest that you taper, but you really need to talk to your doctor (if there is one in the picture). Keep us posted.
