My brother is trying to withdraw from fentanyl patches. He has very painful neuropathy. Any advice???
Thank you
they are so right, it gets so much harder the longer you take the stuff get out now, we have all been there and understand where you are comen from and you have only been taken them for a lil while the withdrawals shouldnt be to bad you will bounce back quickly. I was on them for five years and it took some time for my body to adjust to be being off them so my advice to you is quit now. and we are here to help you there is wonderful ppl on this forum with the best advice kindness and will answer your questions that you might have.... hang in there
Over 15 years ago my wife had all four wisdom teeth pulled; she got some great meds for the pain. Since she and her family don't really use pain meds, I took them. Just like you, I took my spouse's meds for pleasure. That was 15 years ago, and I wish I could go back and flush the meds.
Don't even start. You'll probably have some mild withdrawals, then you'll be free. Listen to the people on this forum; we've been there, done that. We had to learn the hard way.

Great reply Life! I need to read this every day!
Welcome VD, you have been given great advice! If you tell us a little more about your symptoms, and how much and how long you have been using, we will be able to help! Take care and keep posting!
Wow what a post and how true!!! I think I need to write it backwards, staple it to my head so I can see it every time I look in the mirror. HA!!!!
If you feel terrible now wait till your taking them for 5 years straight as this is the road you have chosen to travel to feel good. This really is not a road but more of an EXIT and if you dont get back on the highway now your exiting to a place that only offers agony that will haunt you for years to come. There are many shops along the exit, some full of terror, some full of anger, others of lying and cheating and hunting for more pills and if your really not strong you will sell your soul. Your transforming your body to require opiates which reconditions the receptors in your brain. They make you fool yourself, compromise yourself, justify yourself and eventually you will no longer feel the pleasure on the need to take them, and more and more and more. If you have not taken them for too long just quit now and accept the feelings of withdrawal you are going through and thank the good Lord above that its not 5 years from now because then you will really have to hang on to your hat!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure how many you were taking and what milligram but I was on 10 mg perc/vicodin. I was taking about 10 to 12 pills a day. Also depending on how long you have been taking them. The first 4 days were the roughest for me. I am 20 days clean now and feel wonderful. The Thomas Recipe down at the bottom right of the page is a good way to start. I just took vitamins and a lot of gatorade and water and will power. Exercise is the best. I also was taking them for pleasure and they can take over your life. Hope this helps a little.
Hi & Welcome,
I have a feeling there is more to this story. What made you try his medication? If he were taking blood pressure medication would you try that? It just seems strange.
Having said that, the physical symptoms usually last about a week but that would depend on your usage and your general health. If you describe what you are feeling we can make some recommendations.
My concern for you is that you had your love affair with the pills and now you have stopped. That is wonderful but how will you stay stopped in the future? I assume your husband is going to remain on the medication so you will have to learn to find your pleasure somewhere other than in that pill bottle. That is the hard part for us addicts.
I am glad you came on here to talk and get help. This is a great place for support. Ask any questions you have. Someone is always around to help out.
