vicodin detox/withdrawals?

Been taking 2 - 7.5mg vicodins for the last 3-months.  was wanting to stop cold turkey.  Should i expect any detox/withdrawal symptoms?  i've read where others were taking up to 30 vics/day! and they experienced horrible detox/withdrawal problems. Should i prepare myself for this???  Thanks for any help..

Good for you for realizing that you need to stop this. It is very dangerous. This is how most of us started. Please be careful about wanting to start using again. The high that you get from the cardio will not turn on you like the hydros. Before I started my addiction I ran 7-10 miles every day. I actually think I was addicted to that. I felt so good after a run. When I combined the running with the drugs I felt like superwoman. Pretty soon the pills took over and the running stopped. That was over 7 years ago. Now I'm lucky if I can walk a couple miles and the self discipline that I once had is lost. I would have had a much happier and better life if I had known then what I know now. Good luck to you fitman.

I agree with salsinator. Coming off of this dose should be pretty easy and you should not get very sick. It sounds like you were able to control your usage and keep it at 2 so hopefully you will not experience too much mental wd. Were you taking these for pain? If you find that you are starting to want them just to feel good that is the beginning of a problem and you need to post and get support. Good luck.

Hi Fitman,

On the dose that you have been taking, it is only 15 mg/day and you really have not been taking it that long. You should be able to taper off the medication quite easily with minimal withdrawal.  Try taking 1/2 tablets and drop down to 1.5 tabs per day for about 3 days.  See how you feel, then try dropping down to 1/2 tablet twice per day for several days.  If you can do this without feeling that bad, then drop down to 1/2 of one pill per day for a few days and then stop.  Read the Thomas Recipe in the health pages, there are some suppliments that can help if you have withdrawal symptoms.  Exercise and hot baths also help as well.  I don't think it will be that rough for you.  Keep posting, others here will also have some great support for you.  Best of luck.
