Have you talked with your doctor about the depression?? He/she should have some ideas for you. I dont know enough about Methadone and detoxing but others on the forum do. sara
What was your intial drug of choice that you used before methadone? Are you taking the methadone as a substitute drug, for pain or just recreational? Only reason I ask is because you said you may want to try something else, another opiate or a different anti-depressant. I know how eventually with methadone you begin to feel like your stuck in a rut, feeling ashamed and guilty. For me the best way to get better has always been to get off the opiates I was taking. It always seems to take forever but eventually your life will get back to normality, but you have to fight the addiction just like any other illness. As for the depression sometimes it very hard to find a med that helps but you cant give up the hope for a better life. Once you can get off the methadone or maybe you already are, you will begin to feel more raw emotions again, hopefully find an anti-depressant if needed, therapy or counseling can help and surround yourself with supportive people. My best regards to you, you hang in there, life really is better after methadone. This forum can be a great supporting tool for you during the process so stick around and get as much advice as possible. Take care and Good luck!
