weened down on xanax??????

  I WEENED MYSELF DOWN ON GENRIC XANAX..FROM 2 1/2 MGS.. TO 1 -1/2 MGS LAST TUSDAY... DUERING THAT TIME I ALSO DROPPED 5 MGS OF MY METHADONE..TO MAKE IT 10 MGS A DAY TOTAL..THAT W/D IM OVER WITH..BUT  ...........................SO THIS IS WHAT MY QUSTSHION IS??   I WAS STILL DOING 1 1/2 MGS OF THE XANAX,,AND I STILL DONT FEEL GOOD...THE SYMTOMS IM HAVING ARE FAST HEART RATE WHEN WALKING ..AND ITS FAST ..  CAN ONLY SLEEP 3 1/2 HRS A NIGHT..LOST 10 POUNDS IN 8 DAYS WEAK FROM ALL!!..............I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE 2 1/2  MGS IS IT OK TO GO BACK All AT ONCE??  I DIDNT THINK THAT 1MG WOULD DO THAT...IF I COULD SLEEP I WOULD FEEL ALOT BETTER...I CAN EAT..JUST NOT ALOT..THE REASON  I DROPPED THE 1 MG I DONT LIKE MIXING THE 2..BUT AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO CHOICE TO..I WAS ON 120 MGS OF METHADONE A YR AGO..WEENED OFF THEN THEY PUT ME BACK ON FOR MY PAINS..ON A MUCH LOWER DOSE...WAS 15MGS...NOW 10MGS..2-- 5MGS ADAY....ANYONE COULD HELP ME UNDERSTAND   WHATS GOING ON WITH ME..THIS IS MY 1ST TIME WITYHDRAWLING FROM XANAX..AND STILL TAKING IT TOO...I BEEN ON THE 2 MEDS ABOUT THE SAME TIME.SEPT 2005...I WAS ON ONLY 1MG ADAY WHEN ON THE 120 MGS A YR AGO.....THANKS ALOT.........JAMES

I agree with everyone one at a time and I think doing the methadone first is the way to go then you can get your self off the xanax.

man i almost thought i was reading about myself  for a minute.i also agree with scaredmom,you'll need the xanax if your going to taper off the other.i guess my concern is that you think your over the meth withdrawal,and i really hope you are but i doubt it.how long have you been on meth.as far as the xanax i'll leave it for someone else to answer because i take the same amount you do and cant seem to taper.from what i understand it takes quite awhile

First of all congrats with the tapering of the methadone. Be proud of yourself.
You should taper the xanax really slowly tho. I have absolutely no experience in methadone but i have been taking benzos for 9 years and i'm tapering since may 1st. I really can relate. your description of what you feel is so typically benzos wd's. Be patient, it's a wort it.
With the benzos you got to set a plan for yourself but also listen to your body, you'll know/feel when it's time to taper down. baby step by baby step.

I have to agree with Scaredmom!  Xanax is something that can actually cause death when stopped immediately.  You should probably have your doctor wean you off that and so please be very careful!  You are in my prayers!  You can do this - but try to take one step at a time.  Good luck!

I don't think you should be tapering both at the same time...I would go back on the xanax and taper on the methadone, once you are off  those then start on the xanax, you are trying to put your little body through too much at once...take care, keep us informed...hugs
