weight loss detoxing methadone

i have methadone take-homes & have been decreasing my dose my self each day -- im down to about 7mgs right now (bottles are for 25mg), trying to get completely off it before my bottles are done for the month.  ive been on Meth.Maint. for about 3yrs., had a higher dose at one point but trying to get off.  Plus i really need to save the $$..  Anyways ive noticed im losing weight even though im eating more than usual. has anyone heard of your metabolism going up when ur detoxing? im not throwing up or anything, & i'm feeling ok. im kinda scared when i go completely off tho.

I have lost 20 lbs since I've been on methadone and now my skin crawls. It's like bugs crawling it will drive you crazy.

thx - yeah i dont mind the weight loss that much, was just freaked out that my body was acting weird like something was wrong..  i did gain about 20 lbs my 1st year of MMT, but after that it went away. Anyways thanks for ur support -- i need it!

HI weight loss is not uncommon during a methadone taper...for most of us its a good thing we tend to put weight on during our mmt program I want from 180 to 247 so I was happy when it came off I think its a combination of your metabolism and digestion being slowed down by the methadone and as you come off it it sorta goes into high gear if your already thin you might start out on the whey protein shakes early there loaded with vitamins amino acids as well as protein all of witch your brain needs to heal you can pick up a 2 lb can at walmart for 15 buck the chocolate flavor is good you just mix it with milk...the type of calories are good for mussel building ....your the first one we have had that has not like the weight loss keep posting for support and good luck.......Gnarly
