what to expect and for how long

My mother inlaw has been off painkillers for 5months and is still having withdrawals.  She usually has them around the 10th of the month. She is wondering what to expect and for how long. She usually gets night sweats, flu symptoms, anger...etc...I have never been addicted to anything so im not sure what she's feeling or what she should expect. If someone could help that would be great....

My guess is that something else is going on on the 10th of each month!  WDs don't pick the same day of the month and show up! : )  Could be hormonal.  I am having some of that since my recent hysterectomy, and it truly does feel like WDs sometimes.  I would think that 5 months would clear her from the physical WDs.  I have been thru them a lot, and they are no fun, but I never had the sweats after 5 months.  Maybe some lingering insomnia and energy problems or depression (PAWS) but nothing like what she is having!

I sure hope you get it figured out!  Good luck!

There is such a thing as w/d (mild) after being clean for a few months, but if she is having them only around the 10th of the month....it sounds hormonal....like premenopause.....I would have her see her doctor.....They can be similar in some ways.

If it were w/d, it would be constant not just one day a month.
