Suboxone dosage

I posted earlier about some unusual experiences with sub but didn't give any details. My doc recommended me take either 4mg or 8 to start. I was in mild WDs, so I said I'll take 8 to make sure it would get me off those. He agreed, and said if i need more two hours later, take another. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up extremely sick the next day. I talked to three professionals and got three different opinions, but apparently my doc was right: I had taken too much (he actually said I overdosed!). I had actually taken a total of 24 mgs within less than 24 hours, and that was not good. Anyway, I took 4 mg this morning and that seems to be the perfect dosage. I've felt great all day. Has anyone ever detoxed off subs? Is it milder than off vicodin? I hope so. I'd like to wean myself off this fairly soon. It seems encouraging to me that I can start on 4 mgs and that's enough. I was taking 8-10 (7.5mg) hydrocodone daily before the subs.

from what i have read...suboxone withdrawal is longer than regular opiate withdrawal due to the long half life of the sub....most try to taper down and get off before they become addicted to it...some use it long term to prevent relapse...sub is a good drug i think if used responsibly and if the person is educated on it...some will post who have actual experience with this drug but many taper very slowly like .5 mg or .25 mg at a time at the end

Wow, I feel for you, I bet you were really sick and am glad you are ok.  I would get other opinions besides mine since I am new to this but I think it might be perfectly fine to taper off from 4mg easily.  Just take 4mg today, maybe 4mg tomorrow, then you can drop to 2mg like some do or like me, just drop 1mg every 2 days like this -

2mg
2mg
1mg
1mg
.5mg
.5mg
and then done.

I was taking same thing as you and same amount except only difference was I was taking 10mg pills instead of 7.5.  I took 4 mg today and yesterday and will drop down to 3mg tomorrow and go from there.  

Many say, especially since our drug of choice was only lortab/vicodin, that you should detox for a few days and then do a quick taper and be finished with it and you should be fine.
