My annual holiday reminder~

The holiday season is upon us again so i thought i would spread my words of wisdom!!  We all know the added stress that is put on us at this time.  Some of us are struggling with finances, some of us have lost loved ones recently and there are many Christmas gatherings that usually have liquor.  I personally pass on those gatherings.  My sobriety is too important to me.  Stay close to those who support your recovery at this time.  Add an extra meeting or 2 in there, talk to your sponsor or your therapist, just remember drinking is not an option.  We have so much to be grateful for, we have been given a 2nd chance at life, many havent made it out alive.  Please do whatever you need to do to stay sober, your life depends on it~~sara

Merry Christmas boogieman.  You are still greatly missed~

He was a rather interesting man!!

Bananas are good for dogs.  They provide energy, help with depression, aid in immunities etc.  Calamity has had bananas since she was a pup.  She and the beagle share 1 banana a day and it is the highlight of the day!!

Ah 2013 is here, Happy New Year everyone! My wife and I just shared another anniversary a couple of days ago and life is good! Last night we had a conversation while watching some news footage of the 50'000 plus people downtown Nashville partying. We spoke about the person I use to be when I drank, many of the stories I couldn't remember but some sounded familiar. She said looking back at it now it is hard to believe I was ever that person and she is so grateful to have the person I am now.

Get that.. "she's grateful"! Poor thing, having to endure the drunken clumsiness and behavior, $600 a month to pay for it and just to top it off the stink that goes with drinking and smoking!

I owed it to her from the first day we met to be this person. I'm so thankful for my sobriety. For those who want it and their loved ones that deserve it I hope anyone wishing to be sober can find the strength they need to become an even better person!

Great post Sarah, and Ibizzy you said it perfectly "Many use the holidays to get drunk/high...like its different from any other day....which it really isn't-its a new day w/ a new beginning!"

Needed to bump this up as New Years Eve is upon us.  Same rules apply.  Let the amateurs have the night.

Here's to waking up with a clean mind and body tomorrow!

Happy New Year!!  May you all be richly blessed~

Wise words.. I was at a Christmas party tonight where a lot of people were drinking.  And all I could think was how people take it for granted that they can have one drink and quit.  I know I did...and now I can't not even a drop.  I lost my most favorite in the world Aunt, last week suddenly. RIP Aunt Jo Ann.   And tonight was very easy access to alcohol.  I did great and it really didn't bother me, but I wish I had not put myself in that situation.  I my sobriety is just too dag on important!! Wise words from my friend, Dominosarah!!!

Best of luck, and happy holidays!
