Hi!
Well here I am 10.15pm in UK still sober and enjoying it. I think it's 3 nights sober now, going for 90 and then beyond. Had a lovely afternoon with hubby and friends listening to a guitarist.
Looking forward to my meeting tomorrow.
Thanks to rod: if you are not bothered by who see's you drunk why be bothered by who see's you going to meeting? love it!
Ibizan: God is dog spelled backwards, love it!
Sara: That does sound like contented bliss! Would love a web cam for the birds one day.
Well I'm very happy and hope to stay like it! So many benefits of staying sober.
Thanks to everyone and please keep in touch, Nicky
in recovery we learn to really appreciate these things and fully realize how TWISTED our idea of fun was in the PAST and the wasted energy spent chasing it!i watch the red cardinals in my backyard singing and courting the brownish young females.....brings me such happiness....a natural high indeed!:)
As i sit here writing this i am curled up on the couch with a snoring beagle, a big tomcat and my pup who pretty much takes up the whole room. I am also watching a Loon cam, awaiting the birth of 2 baby loons(our state bird). The cam has night vision with sound also so we can see what is going on in the nest at night. Whats my point here?? It just doesnt get any better than this~~~~~~~~sara
ah how i envy the energy of a border collie!in a past younger life!:)
I can identify with the simple things on a Friday night. I have sacked out border collie who's been running around all day. Nice to be relaxed and NOT passing out. The animals like me better this way too! :)
I was not bothered by who saw me drunk so I aint so bothered about who sees me going to meetings, in fact my social life revolves around my sober friends most of whom go to meetings.

it is 8:12 here in Ohio USA!a quiet evening....dogs and cats are fed as am I.....dogs are sacked out on their beds and I am getting ready to lounge on the sofa next to them!It is so nice to get to the point in life and recovery that simple things...and them...bring me so much serenity and contentment.....someone once told me..and i think its true...that God is dog spelled backwards!:)
Don't worry, hubby is a continental shift worker, 4 days, 3 nights, 4 days off, works over most weekends and Christmas. Weekends don't exist here! 12.30am in morning here, a sober evening!
thats four days away!what about tonite?friday nite notorious excuse for its the weekend...will have a few drinks tonite!
Have meeting sorted for Monday night!
Thanks! Just doing a web search for AA or will ring.
It sometimes helps to meet with other alcoholics now and then. It reminds you that we all of a common issue that we share, and can help you stay strong. I don't attend all the time, but I'm much happier if I at least go every week.
And it's free!
why does it matter if ppl in your town see you going to an AA meeting?are you a dignitary or something like that?i chuckle at ppl who are afraid to be seen at AA especially if the ppl in town saw them intoxicated!Ppl really think less of us then we worry about them...they are consumed with their own lives!Darling whippet..i LOVE all of the sighthounds!
Get yourself back to those meetings girl........sara
Yes, it's a whippet puppy, 9 weeks old. I had no idea they could smell alcohol, thanks. I think I will try to arrange an AA meeting tonight for next week. I stopped going because this is a small community and I was spotted standing outside a few times. I wasn't and am still not to bothered though. I think I will pick a meeting in the nearest town 8 miles away.
Yes by all means go to AA..why did u stop attending? Is that a whippet pup u r holding or an italian greyhound? You know animals can smell the alcohol on their guardians and I've heard they don't like it!10 million sense of smell receptor endings in their noses alone!A bastion of my recovery are my retired greyhounds!:)
