AS a multiplicity of symptoms?

I have had a positive HLA b27 and known this for years.  I have had joint, knee, and back pain off and on and used NSAIDS.  I recently had total collapse of my left foot, (PTTD) and have done some research to find if this is related to AS.  In your experience, do you find ankle/foot disorders and wrist disorders common with AS?

I am an RN with 32 years at the bedside, now finding myself unable to tolerate walking or standing for any period of time.  The rheumatologist I am seeing, has alluded to my SI joints not being involved, so I do not have AS.  What is that about?  Thanks for any information or opinions related to this.

Thanks for your response.  At least now, I feel like I am not just a whiner!!!  I would be interested in finding an AS specialist.  I am in the DFW area.  Medications include NSAIDS, pain Rx, glucosamine chondroitin.  And yes, my symptoms are getting worse, the last 5 months in particular I have seen a dramatic change.  Txsilver, are you a medical professional or fellow  patient?

I am part of a community of AS patients and foot problems come up frequently there.  This is a common complaint.  The wrist is less common but can be affected by AS.  Just because there is no SI joint involvement does not mean it is not AS.  Some rheummys just do not know as much about AS as others.  This is to be expected, I guess, as no one can be a specialist in every rheumatic condition.  I would suggest you try to find an AS specialist in your area.  If you are interested, I have a resource that may be helpful in that effort.  What medication(s) are you taking for your AS?  I am concerned that your symptoms are getting worse as you are unable to tolerate walking or standing for any period of time.
