shoulder pain on both sides

I have occasional shoulder pain on both sides for nearly 7 years, I am nearly 45now. When the pain comes on I am unable to raise my arms past horizontal, sometimes less. There is some clicking when moving the shoulder joint even when there is no pain. There was once consideration that there was tendinitis. I am wondering if I would need surgery or if this is even correctable.

Hi,
How are you? I'm sorry to hear what you have been through for the last 7 years. It could indeed be tendinitis but to determine if it is surgical in nature,  further examination may need to be done by a specialist or orthopedic doctor.  Additional diagnostic tests such as imaging studies may need to be done. Pain reliever and rest may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
