Unexlpained Bursitis for four years and 2 missed miscarriages

Im 23 year old female who has been having TONS of trouble the past few years with neck pain, shoulder stiffness, now elbow aches and hand cramping and tightness. I work with my hands in a DELI department, but nothing I do really puts a HUGE strain on me...its considered NORMAL work, but doing almsot anything like holding a phone by ear or holding a coffee pots for a minute or so will cause pain and a burning sensation in my shoulders and need to let go. It makes it hard to hold me niece and nephews. I am healthy other than my husband and I have just recenlty experience our second missed miscarriage at 9 weeks both were detected at the same time. Baby had a heartbeat this time 87bpm and stopped growing. Chromosomal testing all came back normal and possible girl. Because of finances even with health coverage we cant afford to do the abttery of tests to find out the underlying reasons for these miscarriages. I am curious if all these little issues may be due to one particular condition??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

thnak you soo much for the post! If you do that would be great....I pray you will get answers too! I am thinking about doing like one series of tests at a time...once the other bills are paid off, but we will see and see how the husband feel about it. he is over this whole thing and just wnats to move on and be happy...even if that means without kids. this has been so hard for the both of us. I know time is on our side and with time it wont seem so fresh in our minds. Thank you again and I pray things work out for you as well! prayers and thoughts.

Hey!  I just saw this post.  I have bursitis in my shoulder and elbow, too.  Along with tendonitis and arthritis.  I also have 2 herniated discs in my neck and degenerative disc disease that caused or aggravated the bursitis, etc.

I remember we miscarried around the same time last month.  I have wondered if my condition has caused my 2 miscarriages, too.  It seems like when the body is stressed it can cause complications.  Although the doctors have not said that my condition has had any effect on the pregnancies.  If I find anything out about it, I'll let you know.

One type of testing that I have heard is good and not as expensive is hormone level testing.
I hope you find some answers soon and wish you the best of luck.  You were so kind and supportive when we were both going through the difficult loss.  It really meant a lot to me.

I'm so sorry to hear.  I've lost a few and it is certainly not easy.  My heart goes out to you.

I agree that you need a good work over by a rheumatologist.  There are a number of different arthritis that could be causing your issues.  My symptoms are quite similiar.

I'm not saying this to scare you and I'm not saying you have Lupus, but I would ask
them to rule it out.  You should be tested for anticardiolipin antibody and Lupus anticoagulant as people with these can have a 25% higher risk of miscarriage but with proper treatment of the Lupus it can be handled.  I certainly hope this isn't the situation and wish you luck.  Please let us know how it goes.

I'm so sorry for your loss. [[hug]]

Stress can play all kinds of tricks with your body, and I can't imagine anything more stressful than a miscarriage. For what it's worth, though, for as long as I can remember my mother has had shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand issues related to problems with her cervical spine (neck). When the nerves get pinched, it can possibly lead to symptoms like yours. I have RA, but Mom does not so it's hard to say why she developed this problem.

Without being examined by a doctor, however, it's hard to give you anything concrete. It sounds like you need, at the very least, an x-ray to see if there's degeneration going on in your c-spine.

Mom used to use a simple traction device (available online) that her doctor recommended. It attached to a doorway; she'd sit in a chair with velcro straps that cradled her chin and back of the head. Through a simple pulley system weighted by a small amount of water in a plastic bag, the device would gently relieve pressure on her c-spine and give the surrounding muscles a gentle stretch. I would ask your doctor about it first - though you can buy one online yourself, IMO it needs to be used properly and under a doctor's supervision. You don't want to accidentally hurt yourself!

I hope you are able to find out the root cause of your fertility issues - sometimes it's something that defies logical explanation. My Mom also lost three pregnancies before she had me and my sister, so there is always hope!
