Another excellent website full of information on hip resurfacing and hip replacements is http://www.mcminncentre.co.uk/
Its the homepage of Derek McMinn the surgeon who invented the procedure. Definitely worth having a look!

You can even click on my profile and see a pic of my new hips..........;^)
Most people who have had a hip replaced only ask, why did I wait so long.
Here is a site you might find helpful
http://www.hipsforyou.com/
I learned a ton on Pat's sister site about hip resurfacing--which is similar in many repects to a total hip replacment (THR).
I can't tell you much about a THR, but my Dad has one, he's now 76 and you can't slow him down. (my Mom had both knees replaced, she's 72--they both still ride their bikes.)
I just had both of mine replaced 6 weeks ago, using a newer procedure geared towards younger (in arthritis years(g)) patients-I'm 51. I already have greater range of motion than presurgery....JMHO, but I think you should give some serious thought to the THR...read up on it, study it, my not hurt to get a second opinion from a different surgeon either...It's a pretty common operation these days.
Best of luck in your decision..
Pat's other site (but as mentioned, I don't think you would be a candidate for the resurfacing op, unfortunately it's only suited for a small population of those needing replacements)

Are you glad you had the hip replaced despite the problems? I need a new hip as well so any imput would help!!
thanks;
Dee
I've taken Flagyl and didn't have those kind of problems. I wonder if you stuck with soft foods if it would be better - puddings, oatmeal, smoothies, liquid meal substitutes, etc. I hope you find a way to continue eating.
