RA and burning joints

I've had RA since I was 15. I was somewhat lucky and went into remission for the most part until late Dec of 2011. I had a flair a few years before with my jaw, or at least the oral surgeon blamed the RA. But my RA seems to have migrated into my hips in addition to reflairing in my knees. The odd part is that my knees keep feeling like they had acid pored into the joints instead of just aching. Hips and jaw just ache along with my ankles sometimes. Anyone have any idea about the burning?

My RA has always affected my knees. That's where it began so them hurting isn't my concern, it's the burning. My RA specialist has me on 400mg of plaquenel right now.

Hi there!

Involvement of large joints is a rarer presentation of RA, though this could represent a flare as well. However other possible causes of joint inflammation such as infection, inflammation, injuries, degeneration would need to be considered as well. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a rheumatologist or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
