I am glad she gave you folic acid with the methotrexate. That is very important. I would recommend you take the methotrexate by itselft an hour after you have a carb loaded meal like pasta. That really helped me and I know it has helped many others. Are you taking the pill form of MTX or the injections?
Trudie made a great point on the rib pain. A massage therapist may provide relief from your other symptoms as well.
Myofascial pain can cause pain in your ribs. You might want to try visiting a registered massage therapist who treats myofascial pain and see if you find relief and get their opinion. That would help you to narrow down the issue.
Thanks for the reply. The rheumy was not interested that is for sure.
She started me one methotrexate and folic acid. She said to take the methotrexate on an empty stomach. She never said how/when to take the folic acid. Do you take it with the methotrexate? Does it need to be taken at a different time than my other vitamins?
Thanks for the help

RA effects us all in different ways. While it is possible that the rib pain is related to the RA, it should be explored further. It is important to have things checked out and not chalk things up to being part of RA as, if it is not related, you do not want to delay diagnosis and treatment. If your rheumy did not seem interested or concerned, check with your PCP or see an Osteo. Please let us know what you find out and how you are doing. Do you have any questions about living with RA or the meds you are being prescribed? We are here for you. It can be scary when you are newly diagnosed. Feel free to ask anything here.
