Is this sudden arthritis?

No history of arthritis.
55 yr old healthy female of normal weight taking no medications
Nov 3 evening, clicking noted in top joint of right thumb.  No injury.  No pain.
Next day, clicking less noticeable, but joint below somewhat tender and area between the two joints swollen.
Next day, clicking even more pronounced in top joint (visible to naked eye)
Now pain in top joint when thumb moved toward middle finger.
Recent medical events:  Root canal 4 weeks ago, papillomas removed from eyelids 1 week ago, temporary crown placed on tooth the afternoon before the clicking started.
what is going on?
