What does this MRI mean?

Your report discusses the condition of your (knee) meniscus - they are found in other body joints. In your instance, Meniscus refers to the cartilage of your knee, both the lateral or medial meniscus. In medical terms Lateral means side(s) and Medial means the middle or lying near the middle.  

It reveals some wear and tear, thinning - with possible surgical changes to the meniscus. Chondral means pertaining to cartilage - the meniscus is made up of cartilage. It acts as a cushion, shock absorber if you will - of the knee joint. In my opinion this may be the reason for your knee pain.

You've required a lot of surgical intervention on that knee - it shows in your MRI. It's my guess they will try to treat your symptoms with non-invasive measures before preforming another surgery.

Have you had steroidal or other types of injections in the knee? They may be a beginning treatment. PT may help - but it's my guess you've been there already with little success - or relief of your pain.

I have knee pain, a patella issue for me - caused mainly from the evulsion of my ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) .  I know how painful and life disrupting serious knee pain can be. I've spent many a sleepless night with excruciating knee pain. My heart goes out to you.

First let me tell you how glad I am that you've found our Arthritis Community here on MH (MedHelp).  :)

I'm so sorry you've had so many problems with your knee.  I know how very painful Arthritis is.

Your MRI is just showing you the different surgeries you've had.  It's ju as f identifying them for you.  I hope that your surgeries have relieved you of your Arthritic pain that you've had to endure for so long.

I hope you will become an active member on our Forum and offer your experiences to others on here that are looking for answers as we all are.  I'll be looking forward to your updates on how you are doing.
