You're welcome - I hope some of the information I provided is helpful and if you do get the injection/s, I hope they help to reduce your pain.
thank you for your detailed response.
The biggest advantage IS that is only one injection with the Synvisc One. Every time you puncture the skin, there is a possiblity of introducing germs/bacteria into the body - therefore if you're getting three injections, you have that much more chance of infection.
With the Synvisc One only having one injection can also be a disadvantage in that if the doctor doesn't get the needle into the perfect position, the injection may not work as well as it could. So therefore, with the regular Synvisc, even if the first injection doesn't get to the exact right spot, you have two other chances/opportunities to get it in the right spot.
the other drawback to the Synvisc One is that IF you happen to have an allergic reaction to it, you've had all of the medication injected, whereas with the regular Synvisc, a smaller amount is injected each time, so if there is an allergic/adverse reaction, chances are it will be lesser than with the Synvisc one.
You should have a sit down with your doctor and go over all the pros and cons of having the regular Synvisc as opposed to Synvisc One - and also check with your insurance company to make sure they cover both.
