Which surgery first?

If total wrist fusion and elbow joint replacement (same arm - dominant) have been recommended, which surgery would ideally come first?

Thank you for your advice. This week I had ultrasound-guided hydrodissection for my median nerve.  This will hopefully alleviate some of my wrist symptoms.  If the wrist 'settles down' as hoped, I think the elbow probably warrants attention first.  Have seen 2 orthopods, both happy with whatever I decide.  Thanks again for your response.

Hi there!

Either could be done first, though an orthopedician may prefer a joint replacement first over the fusion. I would suggest discussing this with your treating orthopedician.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
