my hubby has same thing as is still going thru tests. hes only 23 he suffers a lot! he is on crutchers and strong medication. he had a few treatments which included some needles in his back which didnt work so he is now waiting further treatment. i also have a bad back and am just in the early stages of treatment just waiting to be sent for xrays scans etc. i also take strong pain killers in cluding morphine. my hubby could end up having surgery on his back as the other treatment aint worked.

Degenerative disc disease is not really a disease but a term used to describe the normal changes in your spinal discs as you age. Don't let the name frighten you. The best way to combat this is be active and in good physical shape.

A  sacralized L5 is a relatively common anomaly which is present in 3%–21% of people and in most instances causes no problems what so ever.

If he does have stress-related pain as a result of the sacralizaton, the best treatment for this and  for his DDD is physical therapy to stretch and stabilize the spine, and sport-specific training to avoid or limit exposure to the mechanism of injury. These treatments are usually very successful.
