meds for RA

I have been diagnosed with firbro. Went originally for extreme pain in both hips to the extent that I could not climb stairs or get in or out of my car. Dr. prescribed 200mg. celebrex along with lyrica 150 mg. twice daily.  Taken this for one month and no relief.  what else is available for me to take

I'm sorry to hear that you have so much pain and are not getting relief! I know how frustrating that is, but hang in there - as kiddthekatt and txsilver both said, it takes "hit and miss" to get it right for you - everyone and every case is different. Lyrica gave me so much relief! If you are taking 150mg twice a day and it is not helping, then Lyrica is probably not going to work for you. My doctor started me out on 50mg twice a day and gradually increased it. When I got to about 150 to 200 total per day I was doing great. But, I had to stop the Lyrica because of side effects. Still, I know a lot of people who take it without any problems. Like most people on this forum, I've tried pretty much every med out there. It takes a while to find the right mix. Txsilver makes another  good point, too - could be more going on. Was your FMS diagnosed by a rheumatologist? Be persistent with your doctors until you get it all figured out. Good luck!

Do you have both fibro and RA?  I was dx with fibro at first and had a terrible time getting relief from my symptoms.  My hips would ache so bad I was up several times a night.  Turned out that on top of RA and bursitis, I had osteoporosis in them.  I got relief from darvocet, flexeril, RA meds and osteoporosis meds.  It took time but things got better once I was on the combonation.

Hi there;
   Call your doctor and tell them that the combo of meds are not working. It will be hit and miss until you find the right cocktail. I tried Lyrica but the side effects were too much for me, Same with Neuronton. I am finally taking Ultram ER 200mg 2 X a day, Flexeril at night along with a mild sleeping pill, I take Zoloft 100mg in the morning and 50mg at night. I also take Baclofen at night. My internist put me on Norco for the break through pain.

   I went back to the Rhemy last week and he put me on Sulfasalazine for the RA. My hands are beginning to twist and knot up. my elbows are knotted up also. You'll find the right combo of meds, just call your doc.

gentle hugs
