Itching, welting of the skin

I've had two MRI with the gladolinium dye injections.  During the first MRI the technician missed the vein and injected the dye into my elbow joint which burned like sin.  I noticed after the first MRI I experienced light rash and mild itching, but with the second one approximately 1 year later, I have developed sever rashing, itching, welting where I scratch and generally just a plain miserable condition.  I asked a doctor and he said he didn't "think" so.  Could you tell me conclusively if this condition is a result of the dye they used for the MRIs?

Unfortunately, you cannot treat an allergy, just be sure to list that now on medical forms, and inform the radiologist before any future scans.

It sounds like you are allergic to the contrast dye they're using on the MRI.

Sandra,
Thank you very much for your time and information, be assured it is appreciated.  I will make sure that I list my alergy on all future medical forms as you suggest.  I really don't fancy getting older.

That's sort of what the doctor told me too.  Do you think it's something that will clear up on its own or should I persue more medical attention for the condition?
