Asthma/COPD

Hi there,

I am '43' year old lady and long-term suffer of asthma, do not smoke and have never smoked, who as just been diagnosed with slightly hyper-inflated lungs, it was also noted on my CT scan and X-ray that I had scarring and air-blockage at the bottom of my right lung due to the asthma becoming fixed.  Will this worsen over time and what can I do to prevent it.  I am currently on ventolin/inhaled steroids and have a FEV rating of 93% would this class as COPD and should I be as worried about it as I am??
Kind Regards,

Anne.

I have asthma and my FEV1 scores are in the 60s now- chest xrays are clear.  How does one increase their FEV1 scores?
how does one avoid remodeling?  does one need to take regular courses of prednisone?  right now after 11 weeks and several courses of prednisone I am still wheezing and have bad sleep apnea
do you have sleep apnea?  did you get a sleep test?

The extra oxygen going into the lungs, with this pranayam, will help your asthma and make the lungs better. Your feedback in 4 months or whenever will help others.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Keeping your asthma under control is the best thing you can do to stop airway remodelling (the scarring that was seen on the x-ray).

If the disease is kept under control then minimal remodelling will occur but some may over time in severe disease.

I don't know much about COPD so can't comment on that.
